Vinted Shoppers Express Frustration Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options after backlash from users.
